About Lakewood Monitor
What This Is
Lakewood Monitor is an independent reporting project that explains what's happening in Lakewood local government in plain language. We don't take sides. We read the official documents so you don't have to, then break them down in a way anyone can understand.
Editorial Standards
- Neutral. We never take sides, editorialize, or use emotional language.
- Source-backed. Every factual claim links to a primary source document — ordinances, budgets, meeting minutes, or official records.
- Claims are claims. When a politician says something, we attribute it: "Mayor says X." We never present a claim as fact.
- Plain language. We assume you're smart but have zero context. Every acronym is defined. Every process is explained.
- Concise. Single-issue stories stay under 500 words. Complex coverage stays under 800.
- Structured. Every article follows: what happened, why it matters, what happens next.
How AI Is Used
Article drafts are generated from source documents by AI. Every article is human-reviewed before publication. AI is never the source of factual claims — all facts come from primary records, official statements, or attributed news reporting.
Corrections Policy
When we get something wrong and primary records show the error, we publish a dated correction at the top of the article. We don't silently edit. The original text and the correction are both visible.
